We went to the Young At Art Museum in Davie, FL this past Saturday because of Free Museum Day Live! event from the Smithsonian. I had heard this was a great museum for kids, so I was looking forward to checking it out with the boys. We also took my nephew so it was like having 3 kids that day.
When we arrived just a little after 10am, the line was really long, but that’s pretty much a given when you are giving something out for free, right? We waited about 20 minutes to get in, and it was already really crowded.
I’d love to come here again on a not so crowded day, because watching kids run around and chasing after them can be exhausting.
To me, it was like an indoor mini playground with an art feel. I loved looking at the different exhibits and see how the artists expressed themselves and how they see the world through art. It made me realize that art can be done in so many ways, and it tells kids you really can make art out of so many things. I also love how it promotes imagination and creativity.
My oldest loved the grocery and kitchen area. He was shopping for food and then cooking the food.
There were several areas with art where kids could just go through and play with the different things that were in each area.
There was also an outdoor area where they boys played and ran around outside for a bit. It was really hot outside though!
We ended up staying for about and hour and a half, which to us wasn’t too long or short. They probably could have spent more time if we let them!
Did you visit a museum on free museum day? Would you want to check out Young At Art?
Pin for later!
