I am sure that this has happened to you – there’s a bunch of food in your pantry and fridge, but you still feel like you have no idea what to eat for dinner! You’re a busy mom and you don’t even feel like making dinner. Then, you end up cooking mac and cheese and fish sticks. Not to say that’s a bad dinner, it’s a quick dinner, but you can only eat this so often!
A good meal plan has so many benefits, but the main ones are eating healthier and saving money. You make the food, so you are mindful of what you put into it, and you are essentially saving money by eating at home. Two things that we all strive for – being healthier and saving more money, right?
There are many ways to meal plan. You can write down a list on a piece of paper, a cute printable or make it digital and type it out on a spreadsheet or document. The problem with a printable is that you could easily lose the piece of paper.
That’s why a digital version of a meal planner would work best. You won’t have to worry about losing that piece of paper, and you can view the meal plan on an app on your phone. The app that I am referring to is called Trello! It’s a free app that you can access on your phone and desktop. You can create different lists and add cards to those lists. For example, you can create a list called Favorite Recipes and add cards for each of your favorite recipes to refer to. Another list you can have on your Trello board could be called Meals For The Week, where you would add the recipe cards you will need for that week.

Since I am a visual person, I like to have the photos of the finished recipe in the card so it’s easier to find. In each of the cards, I have the recipe written out along with the ingredients I will need. I copy and paste the recipe from the website I find it from. I do it this way because sometimes going to the website the original recipe is on may take a while to load. I also have the link in the Trello card just in case too. It may be time consuming at first, but once you have a bunch of recipes, it looks pretty cool seeing all the recipes in a more visual way.
